Rallying to Support a father, brother, and dear friend
Dominica – December 13th, 2024 – With a heavy heart, we share the story of Dale, a cherished member of our community and a passionate soccer player in his youth on the beautiful island of Dominica. Dale is currently facing a severe medical crisis that threatens his life.
After being diagnosed with mitral stenosis, a serious heart condition that narrows the heart valves, he has struggled with declining health since 2010. His journey was further complicated by chronic atrial fibrillation and Rheumatic Carditis, leaving him unable to enjoy the quality of life he once had.
Before his health challenges began, Dale was a dedicated worker, contributing to our community through his construction and security officer roles. Sadly, the toll of his condition, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, forced him to stop working, leading to overwhelming medical expenses that included frequent doctor visits and costly daily medications.
Dale’s financial situation is becoming increasingly urgent as he now faces the daunting reality of needing life-saving surgery, with costs estimated to be between $15,000 and 20,000 USD. Without this critical intervention, his ability to live a fulfilling and productive life will become even more difficult.
Having met Dale through a mutual friend in 2022, I have witnessed his incredible resilience and strength in facing such adversity. His situation is truly urgent, and it is essential that we, as a community, come together to support him in this challenging time.
I am reaching out not just for Dale but for all of us who care about him and want to see him recover. Together, we can help him afford the medical care he desperately needs to regain his independence and enjoy a better quality of life.
