Privacy Policy for TDN Radio Caribbean App

This policy explains what happens to information when you use the TDN Radio Caribbean mobile application (“the app”). It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past, so it says plainly what is collected and what is not.

The app is published by G & D Enterprises Inc (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at [email protected].

The short version

You do not create an account. We do not ask for your name, your email address or your phone number, and we do not have a database of listeners. The settings you change in the app stay on your phone.

Two outside services do receive limited information: Google AdMob, which serves the adverts that keep the app free, and OneSignal, which delivers push notifications. What each one receives is set out below. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone beyond what those two services need in order to work.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for or collect any of the following:

  • Your name, email address, postal address or phone number
  • Contacts, calendar entries, photos, files or SMS messages
  • Precise GPS location
  • Microphone or camera access
  • Any account credentials, because the app has no accounts

What is stored on your device

The app saves your preferences locally so it can remember them between sessions. This information stays on your phone. It is not transmitted to us and we cannot read it.

  • Your chosen language and region
  • Audio quality preference
  • Equalizer settings, presets and bass boost level
  • Sleep timer state
  • Any alarms you have set, including their times, days and labels

Uninstalling the app removes all of it. Clearing the app’s storage in Android settings does the same.

What third-party services receive

Google AdMob (advertising)

The app displays adverts supplied by Google AdMob. To deliver them, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process:

  • Your device’s advertising identifier
  • Device information such as model, operating system version, language and screen size
  • Approximate location derived from your IP address, typically at city or region level
  • Interactions with adverts, such as views and taps

We do not receive your advertising identifier or any profile built from it. We see only aggregate reporting, such as how many adverts were shown.

Google’s handling of this information is governed by its own policies:

OneSignal (push notifications)

If you allow notifications, OneSignal issues your device a push token so we can send announcements such as program changes or breaking news. OneSignal may process:

  • A push notification token unique to your app installation
  • Device model, operating system version, language and timezone
  • Whether a notification was delivered and whether it was opened

The token identifies a device installation, not a person. We do not attach a name, email address or any other identifier to it, because we do not have one.

Streaming and website servers

Playing the radio connects your device to our streaming provider. Reading the schedule or an article connects it to tdnradio.net. Like any internet server, these record standard connection information in their logs, including your IP address, the time of the request and your device’s user agent string. This is ordinary server operation and is used to deliver the stream, keep the service running and diagnose faults.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal information
  • We do not share it with data brokers
  • We do not build listener profiles
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites ourselves
  • We do not use analytics or crash reporting software in this app

Permissions the app asks for, and why

Notifications. Shows what is currently playing while the app runs in the background, and lets alarms and station announcements reach you. You can turn notifications off in Android settings at any time.

Alarms and reminders. Only requested if you set a wake-up alarm. Android requires it so the alarm can fire at the exact minute you chose. If you never use the alarm feature, you will never see this request, and declining it does not affect anything else.

Ignore battery optimization. Optional. Some phones shut down background apps aggressively, which stops alarms from firing. If yours does, the app offers to add an exception. You can decline and everything else still works.

Network access. Required to stream the radio and load the schedule and articles.

Wake lock. Keeps the stream from being interrupted while your screen is off.

Modify audio settings. Used only by the in-app equalizer and bass boost.

Boot completed. Lets alarms you have already set survive a restart of your phone.

Your choices

Adverts. You can reset or delete your advertising identifier in Android under Settings, then Privacy, then Ads. You can also opt out of personalized adverts there.

Notifications. Turn them off in Android settings, or from the app’s notification settings. Existing tokens stop being used.

Everything. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored settings and stops any further data being sent.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal basis for processing is your consent for notifications and for personalized advertising, and our legitimate interest in operating and securing the service for basic connection logging.

You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, and the right to data portability. Because we do not hold accounts or personal profiles, in most cases the fastest route is to reset your advertising identifier, disable notifications, or uninstall the app. If you want to make a formal request, write to [CONTACT EMAIL] and we will respond within the time the law allows. You also have the right to complain to your national supervisory authority.

If you are in California

Under the CCPA and CPRA you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. Sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising is handled through the advertising identifier, which you can reset or opt out of in Android settings as described above. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. It carries advertising and streams live news and music that is not moderated for a child audience. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, contact us at [email protected] and we will look into it.

Data retention

We hold no listener database, so there is nothing on our side to retain about you. Server connection logs are kept only as long as needed to operate and secure the service. Information held by Google and OneSignal is retained according to their own policies, linked above.

Security

We use encrypted connections for the app’s requests to our website and schedule service. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Significant changes will be noted in the app or on tdnradio.net. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
