New St. Kitts and Nevis High Commissioner to Canada, Her Excellency Sherry Tross, has pledged to make engaging the diaspora one of her top priorities. High Commissioner Tross gave her commitment at the grand welcome reception held in her honour and hosted by the High Commission and Consulate General of St. Kitts and Nevis.  She took advantage of the occasion to socialize with her fellow countrymen, members of the Caribbean diplomatic corps, the Consul Generals of Jamaica, Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, the O.E.C.S Liaison Office and the O.E.C.S Nationals Council Canada.

High Commissioner Tross highlighted the upcoming Ministry of Foreign Affairs Diaspora Conference to be held in the Federation on June 19-20, 2018, under the theme, “Diaspora Partnerships for Sustainable Development.”  H.E Sherry Tross added that attracting new investments and encouraging the greater movement of people between Canada and the twin-island Federation will be on her agenda, during her posting in Ottawa. She also spoke on the long-standing and friendly relationship between Canada and her country, indicating that 2018 marks 35 years of diplomatic relations between the nations.

The welcome reception for High Commissioner Tross was held at the Toronto Don Valley Hotel.  The High Commissioner will be attending several other such events over the next few weeks in her efforts to enhance public diplomacy efforts.
